Entrepreneurship: the new way

In a few weeks our national service is going to be over. I started this blog as a journal to document my travels in the northern region and my work as a teacher in a senior high school. Now the real life begin, the tough part most young university graduates in Africa dread 'looking for a job'. Google graduate unemployment in Africa and my country Ghana and you won't find any meaningful results. In Africa, job search seems more like a do or die, a boot camp for people with the most 'connections' and an aggressive battle of 'who knows you' and willing to offer you a job whether you are qualified or not. In Ghana, so frustrating is the problem of unemployment that there is group that call itself 'Unemployed Graduates Association of Ghana (UGAG). 

But the thing is not every graduate is looking for a job, some are genuinely interested in entrepreneurship and starting their own businesses. Because successful entrepreneurs create jobs for themselves and for other people which put money in their pockets and that of their workers. Considers this, if 10 entrepreneurs set up businesses and each provide 10 jobs they have reduces unemployment by 110 jobs. The bigger the businesses become the lower unemployment rate gets.  My interest in entrepreneurship led me to write about it for my long essay in my final year at the university. And from what i gathered interviewing young undergraduates about the prospects of starting their own businesses upon graduation, a lot of them said they would consider being an entrepreneur but have absolutely no idea where to start from. Others said they have some time back started a business but due to certain challenges were forced to close down citing the big elephant challenge that is the finance part, lack of it or inadequacy of it thereof.

Therefore now that this personal journal is gradually evolving into a full travel blog, one of the things i want to use this medium to talk about apart from the travelling, backpacking and how bathroom lights in Ghanaian guesthouses are dis functional the story of the 

• Aspiring young African entrepreneur. 
• Making this blog a portal where anyone can access information on entrepreneurship especially on the African continent. 
• Struggles of the young African entrepreneur and how to deal with them. 
• Shining examples of entrepreneurs who were able to make it upon all the obstacles. 

I want to talk about entrepreneurship because it matters to me.
